Bill Hartzog, MD

In 1979, Dr. Bill Hartzog became one of the early partner in the Gadsden Orthopedics surgical group. During Gadsden Orthopedics almost 50 year history, he has been an intrical part of building the practice’s impressive reputation. With the leadership of Dr. Hartzog and others, the group has remained focused on providing compassionate care to its patients while remaining on the cutting edge of new and improving orthopedic techniques.

Dr. Hartzog graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, completed a surgical internship at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas and an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Southwestern Medical School, also in Dallas. He is a certified member of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Early in his career, Dr. Hartzog served as a staff surgeon for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the Amputation Rehabilitation Service, both at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Philadelphia. Today, while continuing to treat patients with non-surgical needs at Gadsden Orthopedics, he volunteers at the Etowah County Free Clinic, providing much needed medical treatment to uninsured, low-income adults.

Dr. Hartzog and his wife, have children and grandchildren.
